Development Engineer (Software)
The Company is a small midland based company of electronic and software design engineers,
designing and producing highly specialised electonic test quipment for use in simulation
testing. As the Company is small the employee will be involved in most aspects of the
Company?s business to varying degrees.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The candidate will..
?Learn and maintain good working knowledge of Company products
?Produce or assist in production of development specifications in conjunction with
customers requirements
?Write Microcontroller software, such as PIC, 8051, MPC565 etc
?Develop and debug 32bit Windows applications
?Provide some maintenance for existing software (mostly VB6)
?Migrate existing products to .NET
?Write software to meet specifications in C, Matlab, Simulink, VB, Python
?Provide design services at a customer?s site from time to time
?Provide general software maintenance of development workstations and networking
tools
?Contribute to producing high quality documentation for new products being
developed
?Issue and maintain product test software Manufacturer
The candidate may also be required to..
?Provide sales support, application engineering
?Assist with or produce quotations
?Assist MD*TD with and later provide Training, Sales demonstrations
?Attend shows where necessary
REQUIREMENTS
?Science*Engineering Graduate with > 4 years industrial experience or equivalent
?The candidate must be fluent in C
?The candidate must be fluent in VB
All of the following would be advantageous
?Experience of Matlab*Simulink preferably with Real Time Workshop and Embedded
Coder knowledge
?Knowledge of the TLC language
?Knowledge of .NET
?Experience in developing Active-X components
?Knowledge of Linux and networking tools
?Understanding of electronics a benefit as most software will ?talk? to state of the
art electronics for automotive systems
?Good General technical knowledge, very comfortable with PC apps such as office,
Drawing packages, Databases (Access, ACT), internet, networks
?Presentable, enthusiastic
?Knowledge of design & development sector of the automotive market
?Automotive Engineering Background
